We use the phrase to mean a burden or a difficult time - but it really means much more than that! We look at the origin of the cross, through archaeology and history to find it can only mean one thing - death! I must die to the world's system and to sin, and fully deny myself, in order to truely be a follower of Jesus and receive eternal life. Christianity is not some optional 'add-on' -Salvation is for free but is costs all we have - our very life!
